Built to let the work speak for itself.
I'm Kelvin Mark, the founder of SharonCraft. I started this in February 2026, at 21, building on a craft that has been part of my family for as long as I can remember. I handle the website, orders, delivery and everyday running of things so the artisans we work with can stay focused on what they do best.
Here's the honest reason I started: I saw something our family had that wasn't being used — real skill, but no real online presence. Some of us could build one, but not everyone, and no one had really tried. I wanted to change that, help my family reach further than one market stall could take them, and build something that was genuinely mine — something I had full ownership and direction over.
Beyond my own family, I wanted to partner with and support local communities too — the same skill exists all over Kariokor and beyond, and I felt like there had to be a way to help more of it reach people, not just what we make ourselves.
That's the mentality I started with, and it's still what drives me now.
I'm mostly an introvert, so I'd rather let the pieces, the story and the craftsmanship do the talking. I'm Kamba, from a community known across Kenya for its woodcarving tradition—one of the traditions I hope to bring into SharonCraft as we grow.
Where it started
Kariokor, Nairobi.
The craft runs through my whole family — my grandmother, my mother Sharon Ruth, relatives, my mother's brothers. Everyone learned it a little differently, picked up their own techniques, and over the years those techniques mixed together into something that's uniquely ours. I didn't learn from one teacher — I grew up surrounded by several, each with their own hands, their own way of doing things.
What I remember most isn't one specific moment — it's the atmosphere. Shanga — beads — and color and texture everywhere. In motion, all the time.
SharonCraft is named after my mother, Sharon Ruth — she's the one who's been closest to me in this, and the one this business is really built around. But the skill behind it belongs to a whole family, not one person.

What's next
A fairer platform for Kenyan craft.
We're building relationships with skilled Kenyan artisans whose work deserves a bigger stage than one market stall can offer. We handle the photography, website and delivery so their work can travel further while they keep crafting.
We don't employ artisans; we partner with them. They remain independent, run their own craft and choose what they bring to us. It's a genuine partnership, where good craft gets the audience it deserves.
